The big surprise

During Christmas break while we were at USU David would call me every day from his parents house in Salt Lake. He told me had a big surprise for me. We had been talking a little about getting married, so I started to think, what if he got me a ring? was that my big surprise. I really started to think that he had and so I had my step sister in law Tara do my nails before I went down to see David at his little brother Mike's wedding. Dave met me at the door to the restaurant where the wedding breakfast was and he gave me a big hug. Then he said, " well, what do you think?" I did not know what he was talking about. he stepped back and said, " I got a hair cut!" I quickly realized he had got a hair cut and then it dawned on me, was this my big surprise? I suddenly curled my long fake nails in and began feeling like an idiot and I think I started laughing almost uncontrollably and so I asked him if this was my surprise and he said yes. I did not tell him until a few years ago that I thought he was going to have a ring and propose. A few weeks later it was Christmas and I thought that maybe he would get me a ring. So one day he brought over my present. I opened it and it was a stuffed monkey. Again, I started laughing and of course did not tell him what I thought it was going to be. I ended up loving that little monkey and as you can see below he became part of the family and I would even dress him up. Here he is below, posing with our cop cookie jar and watching a little T.V. and getting some Z's.

I was thinking the same thing, guys are kind of clueless. It's like me telling Brig I have a big surprise for him and then telling him I shaved my legs. Too funny. Love the stuffed monkey by the way.

Hey surprise, I went to the grocery store today. Surprise, I put my bowl in the dishwasher. Surprise, I woke up before 8 this morning...those are the "surprises" we get. Rings? No way.

I loev this story!! I also love the fact that he thought a hair cut was a surprise, he must not like to get his hair cut!! Count me in if you go private!!

It actually was a big surprise if you remember Dave's hair at the time, but when you've been talking about marriage then the only surprise on the girl's mind is obvious. Sorry Nat! At least you can't say you didn't know what you were getting into. :) LOL
Dave, your haircut was a great surprise - you didn't embarrase mom during the wedding. :)

Ahhh, the monkey & the cookie cop have returned! Brings back memories of the good ol' WVC apartments!

Thank you! You have some cute little ones also! Jeremy has mentioned you a time or two. If you decide to go private, let me know what info you need! I am thinking about setting my account that way too. You can never be too careful! I just have to figure out how this thing works. That might take some time..

That is funny. So, how did he finally give you the ring?

I knew jacob was going to propose, because I found the receipt for my engagement ring in his bedroom. He didn't propose for about 2 weeks after I found it - so the whole two weeks I was expecting a ring every day. It was a LONG two weeks

That is SO funny! I think all girls dream up stuff in our minds and then the "big surprise" turns out to be a "haircut" the trick is to laugh about it instead of being disappointed. Guys don't really have much of a clue (I have learned :) ) and if you want something you just have to tell them (not nearly as fun!)

Yeah, how did he finally do it?

D lied and said he ordered my ring online. I think he was trying to see if I was a spoiled brat. I didn't shudder at the words "ring" and "online" being in the same sentence, so maybe I passed the test. I was rewarded with a ring that was not purchased on the interweb but in a real live store.

But we eloped so I couldn't wear it anywhere.

You didn't ask for our personal stories, did you. Sorry. This is me-monster, signing off.
