SO I woke up with the baby and have not been able to fall back asleep and I started thinking about when my sister Erin and her husband Wes set me up with the most beautiful boy I had ever met right after high school and right after I had just broken up with my boy friend. (Is that one word? my 5am brain can't remember, oh well) SO I was 18 years old and he was 25 years old. He had just gotten a divorce. I felt really intimidated by that, but they said he was so cool and nice, so I agreed. We had a BBQ at their house and played some games. Wes went and picked him up and I was gong to drive him home and did I mention it was Wes's cousin? I watched them pull up and get out of the car. He stepped out and I knew I was in big trouble. He was the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. Seriously, he looked like he could grace the cover of GQ magazine. He walked in and introduced himself and I practically forgot my own name. I am usually a chatty Kathy and have no problem meeting new people , but this boy paralized me, not only did he paralize me, he stupified me by his glorious beauty and shiny white teeth. He was funny too. Seriously every time he tried to talk to me it was like I swallowed a bug or something. It did not help anything that Wes and Erin were there to witness my awkwardness. We went out on the porch by ourselves for a second and I thought maybe I could redeem myself and I would strike up a conversation. So this was my brilliant question.
Me: " So what did you like to do in highschool?"
him: " Uh... well ..hmmm, it was just so long ago, it is hard to remember."
OUCH! I had blown it and I knew it, there was no coming back from that one and so the rest of the night I pretty much just gave up and he and Wes had fun talking and this beautiful boy continued to charm us all with his good looks, smooth voice and witty sense of humor. I drove him home and the awkwardness just sat in the back seat with us the entire ride. A few weeks later my sister and I were talking about how incredibly awkward that whole night was, but she got this crazy idea and I love crazy ideas. She knew the restaurant he worked at as a waiter and she told me she would pay me a hundred bucks to go in and sit in his section and give him my number. She did not really think I would do it. So I did exactly that, I went in and knew he waited on the people by the bar and I sat there and he saw me and sort of recognized me and when he came over I made some small talk for a minute and then I gave him my number and told him to call me. HE had this funny smile on his face like he couldn't believe what I was saying and was probably baffled at how forward I was. I really needed that hundred bucks though. He never called me and then the next year we kept running into each other at USU. The first time was at a party and I ran right into him and we both recognized each other and I started laughing and asked him why he never called me. He was so taken aback and did not know what to even say to me, so for the rest of the year I just played with it and continued to make him feel awkward every time we ran into each other.

Random! I love that you were able to combat awkwardness with a little spice. That's my friend, Natelli that I know and love!
One of my favorite stories, I think he didn't ask you out again cuz you were more beautiful than he was, and he felt threatened.
I'm glad you made him feel awkward. Good story.
Loved your story. I was thinking your friend Erin was right...that your beauty outdid his and he didn't know how to handle it! :)
I love your stories Nat! You make everyone feel so much better after reading them!

I love this post. Nothing makes you laugh more then those kind of memories!! We need to get together this summer. Lets have a play date at thanksgiving point or somthing!
That is FUNNY! I just love reading your posts!
something like that happened to me too, and I kept seeing the guy and seeing the guy and finally I decided that it was dumb to feel so embarrassed (I had really acted like an IDIOT!) and just became his friend.
Way to turn it around girl. he probably tells this story about the most beautiful girl he ever say and how he felt so awkward. Did you really get the $100? Erin is a big spender..
How funny! I remember being pretty shocked at the interest my now husband had in me when we first met. I was thinking, 'Is he just really friendly, or does he know he'll be going back home in 5 days and thinks this is just a fling?'
I guess its a good thing we are so mesmorized by our husbands!
I have never made another wager with anyone, it hurt to hand over the 100 big ones, I really didn't think she would do it!
That's hilarious! Good way to turn the situation around on him.
I wish you had a picture of this beautiful boy, I wouldn't mind feasting my eyes upon such an attractive specimen. That story is so funny. I love how you got back at him by making HIM feel awkward because he made you feel awkward with his good looks.
I love that story. :)
